A Ride Series is a set of repeating rides that happen on a consistent schedule for the same Rider or Riders. You can set up a Ride Series as far as 12 months into the future, saving you time for Riders with consistent schedules. When you add a calendar, RideIQ will automatically adjust your Ride Series to account for breaks and holidays.
How to create a Ride Series
Follow the steps below to create a Ride Series.
- Click Riders, then use the search field to find and select the Rider you'd like to schedule a series for. You'll be able to add additional Riders at a later step if desired.
- In the Rides section of the Rider Profile, click Create Ride Series.

- Select the days of the week when the ride will occur. Note that you are scheduling a one-way ride, so you will need to schedule another Ride Series if the rider needs a return trip.
Tip: Schedule variations like late start or early release days will need to be set up as a separate Ride Series. Do not include those days of the week in the main ride series. Learn more about scheduling late start or early release days in this article.

- Enter a start and end date for the Ride Series. These dates depends on the needs of the Rider, but for many Riders they will be the beginning and the end of the school year. You can set an end date up to 12 months after the start date.

- Select the Route type. You can choose:
-
Pickup route: All Riders are picked up from one location at a set time and may be dropped off at different locations. For example, two Riders are picked up from the same school at 3:15 PM and dropped off at their homes. Pickup routes are scheduled based on the pickup time.
-
Drop-off route: All Riders are dropped off at the same location at a set time, and may be picked up from different locations. For example, three Riders are picked up from their homes and dropped off at school at 7:30 AM. Drop-off routes are scheduled based on the drop-off time.

- Add any additional Riders. Select from the list of saved Riders, or, to add a new Rider on the fly, type the Rider's full name, then select it in the Add new Rider section.

- Set a pickup or drop-off time. If you are creating a pickup route, select the time for all Riders to be picked up. If you are creating a drop-off route, select the time for all Riders to be dropped off. This time will be the anchor time used to schedule all other stops on the ride.

- Select a pickup location. Select a saved location from the dropdown list, or type an address to add a new location. If you are building a pickup route, you can set a single pickup location. If you are building a drop-off route, you can add a different pickup location for each Rider. Learn more about adding locations here.
For Riders with a Primary Residence or Primary Destination assigned, some locations may be pre-filled.
- Repeat the process to add a drop-off location. If you are creating a pickup route, you can add a different drop-off location for each rider. If you are creating a drop-off route, you can set a single drop-off location.

- If desired, add a calendar to the Ride Series. Under the ride dates, click Calendar to select from saved calendars. When you add a Calendar, rides will automatically be canceled for holidays and days off. Learn more about adding and using calendars here.

- Optionally, add a tag to the ride. Many organizations use tags to track billing, out of district rides, and other useful categories. Once you've added a tag, you can run reports on tagged rides to see filtered data.
Select a tag from the dropdown list or add a new tag by typing the desired tag and pressing Enter.
- Save the ride series. You can choose:
- Save Ride: Save the ride series.
- Save and Duplicate: Save the ride series and create a copy. You can use the duplicate ride series to save time when creating multiple rides that are similar. This is a useful option when scheduling rides for late start or early release days.
-
Save and Add Return Ride: Save the ride series and create a return ride series with the pickup and drop-off locations reversed. Most Riders will require a return ride.
