Adding a Rider to a Ride or Ride Series

From time to time, you may need to add a rider to an existing ride or ride series. When you add a new rider, you can add them to an existing stop on the ride, or add an additional pickup or drop-off Location along with the new rider. When adding a new rider, keep the following considerations in mind:

  • A ride can have a maximum of four riders. One rider must be able to sit in the front seat in order to include four riders, otherwise the maximum number of riders is three. 
  • Riders with a Rider Service enabled cannot be added to an existing ride. 

  • If the ride has already been claimed, making significant changes to the route may cause the CareDriver to unclaim the ride if they are no longer able to fit it into their schedule. It is best practice to make changes as far ahead of time as possible.


Add a rider to the existing stops

Choose this option to keep the existing route and include an additional rider. To add a rider to the existing pickup and drop-off locations, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the desired ride and click Edit.



  2. In the Add Rider to Pickup field, begin typing the name of the rider you want to add, then select the correct rider from the list. 


  3. Any rider you add to the pickup will automatically be added to the drop-off as well, and vice-versa. If the ride you are editing has multiple stops, you can move the rider to the desired stop by clicking the Add Rider to Pickup/Drop-Off field and selecting the Rider from the list of Riders on this Ride. 


  4. Click Save to confirm your changes. If you are editing a ride series, choose which rides your changes will apply to, then click Save again.

Add a new stop when adding the rider

Choose this option if the rider you're including will need to be picked up or dropped off at a location that is not already part of the ride. Keep in mind that the added rider must share either the pickup location or drop-off location with the other riders, depending on the route type. 

Follow the steps below to add an additional stop with an additional rider.

  1. Select the desired Ride and click Edit. If you are making changes to a ride series, select the first ride you want the edits to apply to.


  2. Click Add another drop-off or Add another pickup, as applicable.


  3. In Add Rider to Drop-off, begin typing the rider's name and select the correct rider from the list. In Select Drop-off Location, begin typing the name or address of the desired Location, then select it from the list. 



  4. The rider will automatically be added to the pickup or drop-off, as appropriate. Click Save to confirm your changes. If you are editing a ride series, select which rides your changes will apply to, then click Save. You can choose:

    • Just this ride: apply the changes only to the ride you selected.
    • This and following rides: apply the changes to the selected ride and all following rides in the series.
    • All future rides: apply the changes to all future rides in the series, regardless of which ride you selected.
