About assigning Calendars
Calendars and Locations are most powerful when combined. When you assign a Calendar to a Location, Ride Series scheduled using that Location will automatically adjust based on the days off on the assigned Calendar.
This feature is especially useful if you have a large number of Ride Series using the same Location, such as a school. Rather than individually adjusting each series, you can assign a Calendar and be confident that rides won't be scheduled on days they aren't needed.
Which Locations should be assigned a Calendar?
In general, you only need to assign Calendars to Schools or similar Locations that have scheduled operating hours and days. Residences do not need to be assigned Calendars.
How do assigned Calendars work?
RideIQ will automatically adjust a Ride Series based on the Calendar assigned to the series anchor Location. The anchor Location is the pickup location for a pickup ride and the drop-off location for a drop-off ride.
For example, you assign the Washington County Public Schools Calendar to Wilson High School. Next, you create a Drop-off Ride Series to take a Rider to Wilson High School every weekday morning. Because Wilson High School is the Drop-off location for this series, the assigned Calendar is automatically applied.
You then create the Pickup Ride Series to take that Rider home every weekday afternoon. Because Wilson High School is the pickup location for this series, the assigned Calendar is automatically applied to this series as well. As a result, both the Pickup and Drop-off series will not schedule rides on holidays and days off marked on the Washington County Public Schools Calendar.
Once the Calendar is assigned, any associated Ride Series will also adjust to any changes you make to the Calendar. For example, if you remove a day off, RideIQ will automatically schedule rides for that day.
How to assign a Calendar to a Location
You can assign a Calendar as you create or edit a Location, or you can assign the Calendar to multiple Locations at once when creating or editing the Calendar.
