Rider Services are additional options available to meet your riders' more complex needs, such as wheelchair-accessible vehicles or additional adult support during the ride. Enabling Rider Services allows you to manage all your transportation within RideIQⓇ and meet more riders' needs while also providing the transparency and real-time tracking for caregivers that is available for all HopSkipDrive rides.
Available Rider Services
HopSkipDrive offers the following Rider Services:
-
Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle (WAV) rides: we partner with a trusted third-party CarePartnerTM to arrange WAV rides in specialty vehicles. Once this service is enabled, you can submit ride requests in RideIQ and caregivers have the same ride tracking and communication experience they have for all HopSkipDrive rides.
-
Rider Assistants: we partner with a trusted third-party CarePartnerTM to arrange vetted, background-checked Rider Assistants to accompany riders who require additional support during the ride.
-
Safe Ride InSight™ [Available in select areas only]: dashcams record audio and video when the rider is in the vehicle.
- Car Seats [Available in select areas only]: for riders 4-6 years old. CareDrivers use approved car seats to transport riders. CareDrivers must complete required education about safely installing and storing the car seat. A caregiver or school staff member is responsible for securing and unbuckling riders.
-
In-App Recording [Available in select areas only]: the CareDriver's device records audio and video when the rider is in the vehicle.
How to enable a service for your organization
Services are enabled at the account level. Once a service is enabled for your account, you can then enable services for individual riders. Each Rider Service incurs a per-ride fee in addition to the ride fare.
How to add a service for a rider
Rider Services are managed in the Safety Settings section of a rider's profile. To add a Rider Service for a rider, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the rider's profile page.
- In Safety Settings, click Edit.

-
Under Services, select the desired Rider Service, then click Save.
You'll see the corresponding service icon at the top of the rider's profile, in the Rides list, and on the rider's rides.
Scheduling rides with Rider Services
WAV and Rider Assistants
To ensure we are able to match rides with the appropriate drivers and Rider Assistants, WAV rides and rides with Rider Assistants must be requested at least 72 hours in advance.
After adding the service to a rider's profile, schedule a ride or Ride Series as usual. When you save the ride, you'll see a message informing you that you are submitting a ride request.

Our team will review your request and match it with a provider of the requested service. We'll update you via email when the request has been processed, and you can also track its status on the Requested tab in RideIQ. After a ride or Ride Series is approved, you'll see rides in RideIQ as usual. Learn more about ride requests here.
Rider Service fees
Each Rider Service incurs an additional per-ride fee. You can review Rider Service and other fees in the Fare Details section of a specific ride. For more information about fees, contact your Regional Account Manager.
