Car Seats are an additional Rider Service you can add to a rider's profile for a per-ride fee. When you add a Car Seat requirement to a ride, the ride can only be claimed by CareDrivers who have passed a car seat education course and have an approved car seat installed in their vehicle.
About Car Seat rides
Car Seat rides can only be claimed by CareDrivers equipped with an approved car seat and who have passed a car seat education course.
CareDrivers are responsible for safely installing the car seat, but in accordance with HopSkipDrive's physical contact policy a caregiver or member of staff must secure the rider in the car seat and unbuckle them when they arrive.

At pickup, the CareDriver must confirm that a caregiver or staff member buckled the rider in to the car seat.

- At drop-off, CareDrivers follow the Must Be Met process to ensure they are met by an Authorized individual to unbuckle the rider.
Car seat eligibility
Car seats are required for riders 4-6 years old who are 27" - 49" tall and weigh 26.5 - 65 pounds.
How to enable Car Seat rides for a rider
Follow the instructions below to enable Car Seat rides.
Prerequisites
In order to be able to enable car seat rides for an individual rider, the Car Seats Rider Service must be enabled for your organization at the account level. Contact your Account Manager to enable Car Seats for your account.
Enabling Car Seat rides for a rider
Rider Services are managed in the Safety Settings section of a rider's profile. To enable Car Seats for a rider, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the rider's profile page.
- In Safety Settings, click Edit.

- Under Services, select Car Seats, then click Save. The Car Seat service will apply to all rides for this rider. You'll see the corresponding service icon at the top of the rider's profile, in the Rides list, and on the rider's rides.

Scheduling Car Seat rides
Once you have enabled Car Seats for a rider, schedule the ride as usual, then click Save.
While the general six-hour window applies, the ride or series will have a status of Requested while HopSkipDrive's Specialty Transportation team reviews it. When the ride has been approved or denied, the Specialty Transportation team will notify you via email. Approved rides will then appear on the In progress & upcoming rides list.
Car Seat ride restrictions
Car Seats rides cannot be combined with the WAV Rider Service.
Managing and tracking Car Seat rides in RideIQ
Car Seat rides are identified with the Car Seat icon, as shown below:

Car Seat rides can be edited and canceled as usual.
Caregiver communications
Caregivers will be notified by SMS when the Car Seat service is added for their rider. They also receive a reminder that they are responsible for securing and unbuckling the rider when the CareDriver is on their way to pickup.
