Riders using a collapsible wheelchair or mobility device that fits in the trunk of a standard sedan can book rides through the HopSkipDrive app. We just ask that you make note of this in the pickup notes so that CareDrivers can ensure sufficient space in the vehicle. We do enforce a Zero-Tolerance Policy relating to physical contact, so CareDrivers will not be able to assist a rider with moving from the wheelchair or mobility device to the vehicle.
If your rider uses a fixed-frame wheelchair or non-collapsible mobility device, please call HopSkipDrive (844-HOP-SKIP) to inquire about wheelchair-accessible vehicle availability in your area. If you monitor rides managed by a school district or other organization, they may support riders who use wheelchairs through HopSkipDrive's Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Rider Service. Learn more here.
You can also schedule directly with a local accessible vehicle dispatch service. Please note that many of these services must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. In order to utilize their service, you may want to consider first reaching out to the local dispatch to inquire about their sign-up process. Depending on the vendor, it may take several weeks to complete the enrollment process before being able to book a ride in their respective cities.
