When creating a ride, you must select either pickup or drop-off as the route type.

A pickup route has a single set pickup time and location, but may have multiple drop-offs. For example, picking up one or more Riders from school and driving them to their individual homes.
A drop-off route has a single set drop-off time and location, but may have multiple pickups. For example, picking up Riders from their homes and dropping them all off at school at the beginning of the day.
| Tip: If you're not sure which route type you need, it can help to think about which part of the ride needs to happen at a specific time. If it's important for the Rider to be dropped off at school by 7:30 AM, that's a drop-off route. On the other hand, if the Rider needs to be picked up from school by 3:30, that's a pickup route. |
Route type and scheduling
It is important to understand that the route type determines which part of the ride can be scheduled for a specific time. All additional stops are scheduled automatically based on that single anchor time.
For example, you schedule a drop-off ride for two Riders at 8:00 AM. You add an individual pickup stop for each Rider to be picked up from their homes. RideIQ then calculates the travel time between each location and determines when each Rider must be picked up in order to arrive at school by 8:00 AM.
Because of this, it is not a good idea to schedule a drop-off ride in a situation where the pickup time is important, or vice-versa.
