In the event that a rider cannot be dropped off safely at the scheduled drop-off location, HopSkipDrive has clear procedures in place. Reasons that a rider cannot be dropped off safely could include:
- No Authorized Individual is present to meet a rider with a Must Be Met requirement
- The building where the rider is to be dropped off is locked
- The CareDriver reports another safety concern about the drop-off location
If a rider cannot be dropped off, HopSkipDrive's Safe Ride Support team will communicate with the Ride Organizer, caregiver, and CareDriver to identify an appropriate safe drop-off location and transport the rider there. This could include dropping the rider off at another family member's home (as approved by the caregiver and Ride Organizer) or returning the rider to the pickup location, if appropriate. In the very rare event that HopSkipDrive is not able to reach the caregiver or Ride Organizer after multiple attempts, the CareDriver will be instructed to take the rider to the nearest police station.
