Must Be Met is a rider safety setting that can be enabled at the location level. When you enable Must Be Met for a rider's assigned location, the CareDriver is required to follow a specific procedure to drop the rider off with a designated Authorized Individual.
Use this setting for riders who need additional care, such as very young riders or riders who may not be able to make their way inside independently.
How Must Be Met works
When you designate an assigned location as Must Be Met for a rider, you must designate a drop-off procedure and at least one Authorized Individual group. The CareDriver will use this information to escort the rider to the correct location and find the right person to meet them.
Drop-off procedures
There are three available drop-off procedures:
-
Meet at car: the rider waits in the car with the rider. The Authorized Individual finds the car and meets the rider. This is a good choice for school drop-offs where the Authorized Individual is able to meet the rider in the drop-off line.
-
Meet at door: the CareDriver walks with the rider to the door. The Authorized Individual meets the rider at the door. This is a good choice for residences. Note that for this option it is important to provide any additional information about finding the correct location in the location notes.
- Meet inside: This option is only available for schools. The CareDriver walks with the rider inside the building and meets the Authorized Individual at a designated location, such as the front office. Note that for this option you must include detailed information about where to meet the authorized individual in the location notes. This is a good option for school drop-offs when the Authorized Individual may not be able to be waiting outside, such as a drop-off outside usual drop-off times.
Authorized Individual groups
Authorized Individual groups are a way to designate which people may meet the rider at drop-off. Groups are defined by the Verification requirements they must be able to meet. For example, at a school drop-off the Authorized Individual group could include any member of school staff who can show a staff ID badge and knows the rider's name. For drop-off at home, the Authorized Individual group could include anyone who knows the rider's name and their birthday.
For each Authorized Individual group, you must enter an Escalation number. This is the phone number of the best point of contact for the CareDriver if they are having trouble locating the Authorized Individual. For example, for a home drop-off it may by the caregiver's phone number. For a school drop-off it may be the number of the main school office.
Considerations before enabling Must Be Met
Before enabling Must Be Met for a given location, it is important to have a clear plan to ensure that an appropriate Authorized Individual will consistently be available to meet the rider and is aware of the meeting location and verification requirements.
When creating Authorized Individual groups, consider who specifically will be meeting the rider, including contingency planning for any absences.
If you are enabling Must Be Met for a rider's residence, be sure you have communicated this requirement to the rider's caregiver. They will need to know where to meet the rider and what verification steps will be required.
