We strongly encourage CareDrivers to use cars that they own to drive with HopSkipDrive, but we understand that sometimes circumstances may require you to use a rental car, such as when your own vehicle is being repaired. Learn more about the requirements for using a rental car below.
Short-term vehicle changes

If you need to use a rental car, request a short-term vehicle change (up to 30 days) via the CareDriver app. To request a change, navigate to the Vehicle section of your CareDriver profile and tap Change vehicle.
Approval of your rental car can take up to two business days to process. While your vehicle change is being processed, you may continue to use your current car if it is safe to do so. If you cannot use your current car, any upcoming claimed rides in the next two business days will be canceled.

If you need to use a rental vehicle for longer than 30 days, you may re-submit your updated rental documentation at the end of the first 30-day period. You may use a rental vehicle for a maximum of six months, total.
