Applying for a King County for-hire permit and decal
HopSkipDrive will automatically submit an application for a for-hire permit for you as part of the certification process. You do not need to apply separately.
Picking up your for-hire permit and decal
Drivers are required to go in person and pick up their for-hire permit and green vehicle endorsement decal. You will receive a text and email from HopSkipDrive detailing how to confirm with King County your for-hire permit documents are ready and how to pick them up from King County’s for-hire permit office.
The office is at King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St. #206, Seattle, WA 98104, located on the 2nd floor. Please bring your photo ID with you.
You must submit a picture of your permit and decal to HopSkipDrive by your documents' due date or your account will be paused.
What if I already have a King County for-hire permit and decal?
If you drive with a rideshare service like Lyft or Uber, you may already have a valid for-hire permit and decal. If you do, you will not receive another permit and decal. Simply submit your documents to HopSkipDrive in the CareDriver app.
Renewing your King County for-hire permit
The Seattle for-hire permit must be renewed every year. HopSkipDrive will submit your application to renew. You do not need to do anything. However, if your driver's license, vehicle inspection, or vehicle registration are expired, your permit will not be renewed. Please make sure your documents are up to date.
Submitting your for-hire permit and decal to HopSkipDrive
