To comply with California law, HopSkipDrive requires random drug and alcohol testing for CareDrivers in California. If you are selected for testing, you will receive a notification from HopSkipDrive with instructions for completing the test. You will receive a testing kit in the mail and schedule an online test appointment to complete the test.

Completing random testing
If you are randomly selected for testing, you will see a notification in your CareDriver app. When you see this notification, you must complete the required testing within 24 hours after your test has been delivered. If you do not complete the test within the required timeframe, your CareDriver account will be paused and any upcoming rides will be unclaimed. Follow the steps below to complete your test.
- In the CareDriver app, tap Start on the testing notification.
- Review the instructions in the app. Tap Next step: consent form to move to the next step.
Review the consent form. To consent, type your first and last name, then tap Sign.
- If you have already received your testing kit in the mail, continue to schedule a testing appointment.
- If you have not yet received the test kit, you will not yet be able to schedule an appointment. You can exit out of the testing screen and return later when you have received your kit.

Scheduling an appointment
You can schedule an appointment after you have received the testing kit in the mail. Do not open your testing kit before your virtual appointment.
- In the CareDriver app, tap Schedule appointment. You can do this from the home screen or just after you sign the consent form.
- Complete the steps in the Azova portal.
- Select an appointment date and time. You'll receive an appointment confirmation via email and in the CareDriver app.
- At the scheduled appointment time, follow the instructions you'll receive via email to complete the appointment.
Testing results
- If your results are negative, no action is required. You may continue to claim and complete rides as usual.
- If your results are positive, your CareDriver account will be paused and any upcoming rides will be unclaimed. HopSkipDrive will contact you with more information.
