As a caregiver, you cancel a ride using the HopSkipDrive app, or by texting HopSkipDrive.
You can cancel a ride any time before the rider has been picked up. If you schedule and pay for rides yourself, cancellation fees may apply.
Cancellation permissionsIf you monitor rides scheduled by a school district or similar organization, the Ride Organizer manages the ride cancellation permissions. You may be able to do some or all of the following:

Cancel a ride in the HopSkipDrive app
To cancel a ride, follow the steps below:
- On the My Rides page, tap the ride you want to cancel.

- If the ride has not yet started, at the bottom of the page, tap Manage Ride.

If the ride is already in progress, tap Info, then tap Manage ride. If the CareDriver has already arrived to pick up the rider, you will not be able to cancel the ride using the app.
- Select the desired option. The cancellation options you see will vary depending on your cancellation permissions.

Cancel this ride: cancel this individual ride for all riders you monitor. If there are other riders who you do not monitor included on the ride, you can safely cancel the ride without affecting the other riders.
Remove [rider]: Remove the selected rider from the ride without cancelling it for other riders on the ride. For example, you might choose this option if one rider is staying home sick, but their sibling will still need a ride to school.

Cancel Ride Series: cancel the selected ride and all future scheduled rides in the Ride Series. Learn more about canceling a Ride Series here. In most cases, caregivers who monitor rides scheduled by a school district do not have this option.

Edit ride: change the pickup or drop-off location or time. Learn more about editing rides here. In most cases, caregivers who monitor rides scheduled by a school district do not have this option.

Cancel this ride: cancel this individual ride for all riders you monitor. If there are other riders who you do not monitor included on the ride, you can safely cancel the ride without affecting the other riders.
- Tap OK to confirm the cancellation or rider removal.
Cancel a ride by text message:
Cancellation by text message is available for rides that are coming up in approximately the next day. If you want to cancel rides farther in advance, please use the HopSkipDrive app.
To cancel rides by text message, follow the steps below:
- Text "cancel rides" to 844-HOP-SKIP (844-467-7547), or reply "cancel" to the reminder text you receive the night before scheduled rides.
- You'll receive an automated message listing upcoming scheduled rides within approximately the next day. Keep in mind that your rider(s) may have additional scheduled rides that are not listed because they are more than a day away.
- Reply with the number of the ride you want to cancel. If you want to cancel more than one ride, you can reply with the number for each ride.
- The rides you list will be canceled. You'll receive a confirmation message listing the ride(s) you canceled.
