If a school district or other organization will be managing rides for your child, you will receive a text invitation to monitor their rides in the Caregiver App. Once you download the app and connect your account, you will be able to see your Rider's upcoming rides, view information about the CareDriver picking up your Rider, cancel unneeded rides, and even monitor the ride in real time.
Follow the steps below to set up and connect your account.
- Download the HopSkipDrive Caregiver app.
-
Tap Create account.
- Enter your phone number. You'll receive a verification code. Enter the verification code to confirm your phone number.
- Review the Terms of use. If you agree, scroll to the bottom and tap I Accept the Terms of Use.
- Enter your name and email address, then set a secure password for your account. Tap Create account.
- In the upper left, tap the
icon, then tap Profile.
- Select Riders. On the Riders page, you'll see an invitation to monitor your rider. Tap Accept.

- Enter the rider's birthday. This is used to confirm your relationship with the rider, so be sure you enter the date accurately. When you see the confirmation screen, tap Next.

- If the organization has already added a photo for your rider, tap the pencil icon to edit it, if desired. If there is no photo, tap Add photo to upload one.
You can skip this step and come back later, but we strongly recommend adding a clear, recent photo that shows your rider's face. This helps CareDrivers find your rider quickly at pickup.
- If appropriate for your rider, enter their phone number. When you add a phone number for your rider, they will:
- Receive text updates with the CareDriver's name, photo, and vehicle information
- Receive text updates about their scheduled rides
- Be able to be contacted by the CareDriver during the ride to facilitate pickup.
CareDrivers never see the rider's phone number and can only communicate with them during an active ride. You can learn more about how we use rider information in this article.
- Optionally, add the rider's email address. This information is never shared with the CareDriver.
- Set a code word for your rider. At pickup, the CareDriver will say this code word to your rider to confirm that they are the correct CareDriver. Choose a word your rider will be able to remember. Avoid choosing something that other riders may also use, such as school mascots.

- Review the tips for managing your rides. You can then continue to accept any additional invitations or continue to the My Rides screen to see upcoming rides scheduled for your rider. You can now:
