Occasionally there may be last-minute changes to a ride you have claimed. While we understand this can be frustrating, there are circumstances when this is unavoidable. For example, a ride may be updated when a rider is home sick and does not need transportation.
Remember that when a ride is changed after you check in you will still earn at least the estimated fare displayed at the time you checked in. You can read more about Fare Protection here.
If a ride you have claimed is changed to a time when you are no longer able to complete it, you may cancel the ride. In Cancellation reason, choose Ride was changed to a time I am not available.
Notifications for ride changes
To make sure you are aware of any ride changes, HopSkipDrive sends SMS messages and in-app notifications when a rider is removed from one of the rides you have claimed.
Before the ride
If a rider is removed from a ride, you will receive an SMS message with the name of the rider who has been removed and the date and time of the ride they have been removed from.
If the time or route of the ride is changed as the result of removing a rider, you will receive another SMS message with the updated time.
After receiving a notification, we recommend reviewing the ride details in the CareDriver app.
During the ride
If a rider is removed once you have already started driving, you will see a notification in the app and in-app navigation will stop. When safe, pull over and tap See changes to reload the ride details page and re-start navigation on the updated route.
