CareDriver fees are calculated based on the time and mileage of the ride. While conditions can change and make a ride take more or less time than estimated, we understand how important earnings are to CareDrivers. To help ensure that you know what you'll be earning at the time you check in for the ride, HopSkipDrive offers Fare Protection to CareDrivers. Terms apply.
What is Fare Protection?
With Fare Protection, you will always earn at least the estimated fare you see at the time you check in for a ride.

Back-to-back rides
When you have two rides back-to-back, we understand that the first ride can impact when you are able to check in for the second ride. To ensure your earnings for the second ride are protected, you will earn at least the estimated amount calculated at the time you check in for the first ride. Learn more about Fare Protection for back-to-back rides here.
Will I still be paid more if a ride takes longer than the estimated time?
Yes! Fare Protection means the amount you'll earn for a ride will be at least the estimated amount at the time you check in for the ride. While your earnings won't be any lower than the estimate, they can be higher! Your earnings will go up if:
- The actual ride time is five or more minutes longer than the estimated ride time
AND - The actual ride time is longer than the base fare threshold (see what that threshold is for your area here)
Why did I get a notification about Fare Protection?
You'll get a notification when Fare Protection keeps your earnings at the estimated amount when they otherwise would have been lower. This is just for your information. No action is needed.
What if a ride is canceled after I check in?
If a ride is canceled after you check in, you will be paid the full estimated fare calculated at the time of check-in. See this article for more information about our cancellation policy.
