| Note: The information below applies to Caregivers who schedule and manage rides themselves. If a school district or other organization schedules rides for your rider, that organization will work with HopSkipDrive to ensure all rides are claimed. |
Although we do everything we can to encourage CareDrivers to claim rides available to them, we can’t guarantee a CareDriver for every ride. However, almost all rides are matched to CareDrivers. We do not control CareDrivers’ schedules, but we use many different strategies to ensure rides will have drivers.
HopSkipDrive rides are matched a week in advance at the earliest.
What happens if no CareDriver claims my ride?
If no CareDriver has claimed your ride, we make sure you are informed so you have time to make other arrangements. We will alert you at:
- 8:00 PM the night before the ride
- 9:00 AM the day of the ride (if after 9:00 AM)
- 30 minutes before the ride start
How can I tell whether my ride has been claimed?
You can always check the status of your ride in your HopSkipDrive app.
On the My Rides screen, you will see a check mark next to rides that have been claimed by a CareDriver.
When you view a specific ride, you can see details about the CareDriver who has claimed it. If you don't see this information, it means the ride hasn't yet been claimed.

What do I do if I don't have a CareDriver for my ride?
While your ride is unclaimed, you can cancel it at any time without charge. If you do not cancel the ride, it will remain available for claiming until 30 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. We will notify you at that point if your ride has not been claimed.
The above situation is unusual. Most rides will be claimed well in advance of the ride.
