In RideIQ, a Rider's transportation costs can be shared between two districts. When a Rider's costs are shared, the Attending District, where the Rider attends school, is responsible for scheduling and managing rides. The Residence District, where the Rider lives, can view the rides and receives detailed invoices and notifications about changes to the Rider's account via email.
This article explains the shared billing process for the Residence District. For more information about setting up shared billing as an Attending District, see this article.
Shared billing requirements
- To share billing for a Rider, the Residence District must have a contract with HopSkipDrive.
- The Residence District does not need to create a Rider profile in RideIQ or schedule any rides for the shared Rider.
- The Residence District must provide the name and email address of a point of contact to the Attending District. This point of contact will receive emailed invoices and notifications.
Setting up shared billing
The Attending District sets up shared billing in RideIQ. You may be contacted by someone from the Attending District requesting a point of contact email address, or they may use the email address of an existing point of contact at your district. The Residence District does not need to take any additional setup steps beyond providing this email address.
You will receive an email notification that shared billing has been established for any shared Riders.
Information you will receive
As a Residence District, you can view scheduled rides and ride charges in RideIQ. Additionally, you will receive:
- Monthly invoices showing the charges for the shared Rider that your district is responsible for.
- Detailed supporting documents showing specific ride information and charges.
- Email notifications when shared billing is established for a Rider and if the shared billing relationship with the Attending District is terminated.
How shared billing charges are calculated
The cost of each ride for the shared Rider is divided evenly between the two districts. In RideIQ and invoices you will see the portion of the total cost your district is responsible for (50% of the total). This includes charges for any canceled rides that incurred charges.
