When you set up an account for your rider, HopSkipDrive will ask for certain identifying information. This information is primarily used to help CareDrivers find and identify your rider when driving with HopSkipDrive.
Read below to learn how we use your information. You can also learn more by reviewing our Privacy Policy.
Rider photo
The app will prompt you to upload a clear, recent picture of your rider to help CareDrivers find and identify your rider at pickup. Photos are extremely helpful at crowded school pickups and other situations where finding a rider by name alone would be challenging. However, you may choose not to add a photo if desired.

First and last name
CareDrivers use the Rider's full name to identify them at pickup. Knowing the Rider's full name is key to ensuring the correct CareDriver picks up each Rider.
Birthday
The rider's birthday (month and day) are part of the process CareDrivers use to verify that they are picking up the correct rider. CareDrivers can see the birthday in the app and will ask riders to confirm it to verify their identity. It is important to be sure you have entered the correct birthday to prevent issues during this step.
Phone number
Adding a phone number for the rider is optional, but, if appropriate for your rider, it can make the pickup process much smoother. When you add a phone number:
- Your rider will receive a text with the CareDriver's name, photo, and the make, model, and license plate number of their vehicle.
- The CareDriver can text or call your rider if they are having trouble finding them at pickup.
Your child's phone number is always masked so the CareDriver can only contact them using the app, and only during an active ride. Your child's phone number is never revealed to the CareDriver.
