Some school districts have implemented a new safety feature called Ride Recording: In-App. This is an enhanced safety feature that records rides directly through the CareDriver's phone, with no special equipment needed and no change to your rider's experience. Think of it as a safeguard — something that creates accountability, keeps everyone protected, and ensures there's a clear record if it's ever needed.
Your rider's privacy is fully protected. Only your school district and HopSkipDrive have access to recordings — CareDrivers do not have access to the footage. Rides are recorded through the CareDriver app via the front-facing camera, encrypted, and uploaded directly to HopSkipDrive's secure servers the moment the ride ends.
If Ride Recording: In-App is enabled for your rider:
- Ride recording will be active on rides this school year, meeting the same rigorous safety and privacy standards that define HopSkipDrive.
- There’s no CareDriver intervention here — footage goes directly and securely to HopSkipDrive servers.
Have questions or concerns? Please reach out directly to your Ride Organizer — the district that coordinates your rider’s transportation. They manage consents and recording settings for your program and are your best point of contact for any questions specific to your rides.
