How to use this information
This data is for informational purposes only and CareDriver Trends will not directly affect your eligibility to drive on the HopSkipDrive platform. We encourage you to review your CareDriver Trends regularly to celebrate your successes and identify areas where you may be able to improve.
When reviewing this information, keep in mind that overall patterns and trends are what is most important. Any individual ride may be affected by outside circumstances such as traffic, the behavior of other drivers, or weather. However, a consistent pattern may indicate something that you can control as a driver with simple changes as suggested in the sections below.
Understanding your rating
At the top of the CareDriver Trends page, you'll see an overall rating of your driving behaviors over the past week. You'll also see an arrow showing the general trend of your rating. An upward arrow means your data is improving overall, while a downward arrow means your data is trending toward a lower rating.

You may see the following CareDriver Trends ratings:
-
Needs work:
- The tracked data over the previous week indicates a consistent pattern of behavior that may be considered unsafe. A rating of Needs work does not mean you will be automatically removed from the platform. However, if you are consistently showing driving behaviors that fall into the Needs work category, our Trust and Safety team may contact you regarding your driving. If improvements are not made, your account may be at risk for deactivation. Review the Rating Factors section to learn more and understand where you may be able to improve.

CareDriver Trends rating factors
Your overall CareDriver Trends rating includes the following factors. For each section, you can tap to see more information about specific rides that received a low rating (if any).

Last-minute cancellations
Any ride you cancel within 12 hours of the first pickup qualifies as a last-minute cancellation. This does not include rides canceled by the ride organizer, because the rider was not at pickup, or because the ride time was changed to a time you are not available.
Consistency and reliability are an important part of providing rides on the HopSkipDrive platform. When rides are canceled at the last minute, it can be difficult to find a new CareDriver to claim the ride in time. However, we understand that there are times when you will need to cancel. Your rating will not be materially impacted by occasional last-minute cancellations.
How to improve a low rating
To reduce your number of last-minute cancellations, you can:
- Carefully review your schedule before claiming rides and only claim rides you are certain you will be able to complete.
- Use the cart feature to reserve rides you are considering so you can review your full schedule before you commit to claim a ride.
- Review your upcoming claimed rides regularly and cancel rides you won't be able to perform as far in advance as possible. Rides you cancel 12 hours or more in advance do not count toward your last-minute cancellation rate.
Missed check-ins
Any ride you do not check in for at least 60 minutes before the first pickup is considered a missed check-in.

It is important for HopSkipDrive to be aware of any rides you will not be completing as far ahead of time as possible. Checking in for the ride is how you confirm that you will be completing the ride as scheduled. When CareDrivers do not check in, there is an increased chance that a rider is delayed while we work to find a replacement CareDriver.
How to improve a low rating
To reduce the number of missed check-ins, you can:
- Plan ahead to check in during a time you will be able to access your phone. You can check in as early as 90 minutes before the ride.
- Ensure you are receiving notifications and calls from HopSkipDrive. You will receive text messages, push notifications, and a phone call reminding you to check in.
- Review your upcoming rides and cancel rides you will not be able to complete.
On time to pickup
This is the total number of rides for which you reached pickup location on time. Your arrival time is based on when you tap I've arrived in the CareDriver app. A ride is counted as late if you arrive between 10 and 20 minutes after the pickup time listed in the app. If you arrive 20 minutes or more late, this counts as an extremely late arrival.
On-time arrival is important to ensure riders reach their destinations on time. Arriving late can also lead to safety concerns while younger riders wait to be picked up.
How to improve a low rating
To increase your on-time arrivals, you can:
- Be sure to check the suggested leave time in the CareDriver app and leave by the time listed.
- Check current traffic conditions along the route and adjust the time you leave accordingly.
- If you find you are consistently late to a particular destination, leave a few minutes earlier to ensure you arrive on time.
- Make sure you tap I've arrived as soon as you get to pickup and can safely use your phone.
Ride safety rating
The ride safety rating is based on telemetric data sent from your phone while driving with HopSkipDrive. We track a collection of factors that are general indicators of safe driving.

As with all the driving data, the overall patterns are what is important, not any individual ride. For example, you may need to brake suddenly to avoid a collision during a ride. This will not result in a poor rating. However, if you consistently brake suddenly throughout multiple rides, you would see a poor rating in the area of hard braking.
Your overall ride safety rating is a combination of your ratings in each area. The safety rating includes the following data points:
-
Phone use
- Definition: interacting with your cell phone for longer than 3 seconds while driving.
-
How to improve your rating: keep your phone in a holder whenever possible. Start navigation and interact with the CareDriver app only when stopped.
-
Speeding
- Definition: significantly exceeding the posted speed limit for longer than a few seconds.
-
How to improve your rating: watch the speed limit and ensure you are consistently following it.
-
Smooth braking
- Definition: avoiding sudden, abrupt braking. For example, avoid braking hard enough that a full cup in a cupholder would spill.
-
How to improve your rating: try to anticipate upcoming stops and reduce speed smoothly and gradually.
-
Smooth acceleration
- Definition: accelerating at a steady, controlled rate. For example, avoid accelerating sharply in a way that would cause a passenger's head to be snapped back against the headrest.
-
How to improve your rating: Focus on smooth accelerations in situations like freeway onramps.
-
Smooth turns
- Definition: navigating turns and curves at a controlled speed. For example, avoid driving around corners fast enough that passengers would be pushed toward the side of the vehicle.
- How to improve your rating: slow down when approaching corners or tight curves.
