Some states require additional fees or taxes for transportation services. If your state has any extra fees or taxes, they will be included in the displayed fares on both our website’s fare estimator and when booking a ride in the HopSkipDrive app or on the HopSkipDrive website.

Arizona:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Arizona rides.
California:
In 2018, the California Legislature adopted Senate Bill 1376, known as the “TNC Access for All Act.” Per this Act, each Transportation Network Company operating in California must collect and remit to the California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”) an Access for All Fee in the amount of $0.10 per ride. July 1, 2019 was the scheduled start date for the fee. Funds collected by the CPUC per the Act are deposited into an Access for All Fund and then distributed on a competitive basis to providers that establish on-demand transportation programs or partnerships to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Colorado:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Colorado rides.
Florida:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Florida rides.
Nevada:
Nevada has a 3% Excise Tax on all rides.
Michigan:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Michigan rides.
Pennsylvania:
A surcharge of 1.4% of the ride total will be added for trips originating within Philadelphia. A surcharge of 1% of the ride total will be added for trips originating within Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia.
Texas:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Texas rides.
Virginia:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Virginia rides.
The Washington DC Metropolitan Area:
DC has a 6% tax on all rides.
Washington State:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Washington State rides.
Wisconsin:
At this time there are no additional local operating fees or taxes for Wisconsin rides.
