Please watch this video to familiarize yourself with the Must Be Met protocols.
Some riders have a Must Be Met safety requirement when being dropped off. This means that the rider must be dropped off with an Authorized Individual, following the steps in the app. Ride Organizers set a Must be Met procedure, required identity verification, and designate specific Authorized Individuals who are able to meet the rider.
The Must Be Met requirement is a way to keep riders safe. It is important to carefully follow the procedures and instructions when dropping off a rider with this requirement.
Identifying riders with a Must Be Met requirement
The Must Be Met requirement is set for specific locations. For example, a rider may have a Must Be Met requirement when they are dropped off at school, but not when they are dropped off at home. When one of the riders on a ride has a Must Be Met requirement, you'll see a red Must Be Met tag on the ride. When you tap to see ride details, you'll be able to see the specific Must Be Met procedure.
Must Be Met procedures
There are three different procedures you may need to follow when dropping off a rider. You'll see which procedure is required in the app when you get to drop-off.
Tap to expand and see more information about each procedure.
Wait in car
Follow the steps below to drop off a rider with a Wait in car Must Be Met requirement:
-
Before picking up the rider, enable child safety locks.
- When you arrive, stay in the car with the rider. The Authorized Individual will be aware that they are expected to meet you at the car. You can tell the rider that you are waiting to be met by someone to walk them inside.
- When the Authorized Individual arrives, follow the requirements in the app to confirm their identity. You may need to check one, two, or all of the following.
-
Ask to see staff ID: ask to see an ID badge for the school or other organization where you are dropping off the rider. The ID should show that the person is an employee. A driver's license or other generic ID is not sufficient.
-
Can they state the rider's name? Ask the person who they are here to meet. They should be able to state the rider's name.
-
Can they state the rider's birthday? Ask the person for the month and day of the rider's birth. You can find the rider's birthday at the top of the screen.
-

Will I be paid for time I spend waiting?
Yes. Ride fares are calculated based on both ride distance and total time. Time you spend waiting with a rider with a Must Be Met requirement is automatically included in the total fare.
