HopSkipDrive's Fare Protection policy means that you will earn at least the estimated fare at the time you check in for a ride. However, we understand that when you have two rides back-to-back this can delay checking in for the second ride. To ensure that your earnings are protected in this situation, fare protection takes effect for both back-to-back rides when check in for the first ride.
When you have claimed two back-to-back rides, you will earn at least the estimated fare for the second ride at the time you check in for the first ride. Rides are back-to-back if the second ride starts within 90 minutes of the end of the first ride. In order for back-to-back fare protection to apply, the second ride must already be claimed at the time you check in for the first ride. After you check in for the first ride, protected back-to-back rides are identified by the icon shown below:

Frequently asked questions:
Find answers to common questions below.
What if the second ride is canceled before I check in for it?
If the second ride in a set of back-to-back rides is canceled before you check in for it, you will be paid the full estimated fare calculated at the time you checked in for the first ride.
What if I have more than two rides that are back-to-back?
Fare protection applies to pairs of back-back rides. If you have multiple rides back-to-back, fare protection will apply for the ride after whichever ride you are currently able to check in for.
For example, if you have four rides claimed back-to-back:

- When you check in for ride B, your earnings are protected for rides B and C.
- When you check in for ride C, your earnings are protected for rides C and D.
How do I check in for the second ride in a set of back-to-back rides?
Check in for the second ride as soon as you complete the first ride, following the usual check-in process. You must check in for the second ride within 5 minutes of the end of the first ride.
